I do have a day job, and it's not writing, so my writing is done in the evening and on weekends. I've been scribbling poems, songs and prose since I was a teen. My work life brought me up as the go-to person for letters and communications when others just couldn't put the right words together.
I finally finished my first novel, a paranormal mystery, a few years ago. It was a great experience and helped me as I began working on the sequel and my second book.
My love has always been prose, but I did a 2 1/2 year gig as a reporter with a local newspaper and found I loved writing about people. There are so many stories to be told and passed along to children and grandchildren.
My passion for running has brought out both the prose and pragmatic in me. It was a joy to write my recent book, an anthology of my writing on running, and even more rewarding hearing readers comments. Reaching people is what keeps me going.
The decades long experiences I have gained through running has brought me along the road to writing with a joy to write as much as to run. What started as a way to join a team in high school via cross-country and track, has provided a lifestyle of health and well being. Sure, there are always ups and downs to life as to running, but the ability to scramble back and hang in there is certainly a partial benefit of my running journey.
I enjoy both the shorter, (attempt at) faster racing as well as the marathon distance. It took me ten years to get to the starting line in Boston, but it was well worth the effort. The race itself hasn't been a great day for me, but the journey is a lifelong memory.
For now, I enjoy the challenge each year brings, and the opportunity to try different distances and different destinations for racing. I find it's good to change up the distances to keep me fresh both mentally and physically.
Thank you for making time to visit my site and read through this section. I would be glad to answer any questions you have on my books, my posted writings, or running.

Life is Short. Run Long.
If there is a need for writing about a sport or endeavor, I'll work hard to capture the essence of the event, or person, you want covered. Digging deep brings out the heart of a story, and that keeps me reaching for the best finish.
Having an event? Just back from a great vacation? Want a bio of Grandpa and Grandma? We can collect the pieces of the story puzzle and I'll fill in the holes. Photos are just part of the legacy of a person or event. Let's write!
